Canadian Medical Auctions is delighted to announce meeting vigorous criteria set by Health Canada
TORONTO, Ontario (May 25, 2021) - Canadian Medical Auctions Ltd Inc. (CMA), a medical equipment auction company focused on helping hospitals, manufacturers and healthcare providers to realize value from their used, end-of life and surplus medical equipment, is pleased to announce that they have been issued a Medical Device Establishment License (MDEL) (license number 16499) by Health Canada. The license allows CMA to distribute medical devices within Canada.
"Our primary market is very much outside of Canada - including Pakistan, India, Africa, Eastern Europe and South America. However, obtaining a Medical Device Establishment License was one of the key steps towards establishing ourselves as a full service provider for the secondary equipment marketplace. The ability to sell still-licensed equipment within Canada, where our consignors are happy to do so, will allow yet further equipment to stay out of landfill," said Helen Wilks, COO of Canadian Medical Auctions. "Our tech-enabled auction platform offers a transparent and anonymous connection to 10,000 buyers in 60+ countries, allowing developing countries access to quality equipment they would not otherwise be able to fund."
Any company selling or importing any class of medical devices in Canada must apply for and maintain a Medical Device Establishment Licence (MDEL), unless they meet exemption(s) in section 44 of the Medical Devices Regulations (these exemptions include hospitals and clinics). A Health Canada Medical Device Establishment License (MDEL) is issued by the Inspectorate based on stringent guidelines for each establishment, certifying that they meet certain requirements and then inspected for compliance.View all News
